About

Chattanooga Memorial Park in southeastern Tennessee has been an important part of the community for more than 125 years. We've provided professional cemetery services to generations of families in the Red Bank and Chattanooga areas of Hamilton County. With mature trees, seasonal flowers and well-kept landscaping, the 100-acre cemetery is a beautiful place to honor the memory of your loved ones—and our cemetery team provides a caring touch.

History

Cemetery grounds at Chattanooga Memorial ParkChattanooga Memorial Park was established in 1894 and was known at the time as White Oak Cemetery. In 1925, additional property was acquired and the name was changed to Chattanooga Memorial Park.

Prior to becoming a cemetery, Chattanooga Memorial Park was a site of Civil War action. Major General William Tecumseh Sherman of the Union Army hid with four federal divisions in the hills of the property before they launched an attack on Missionary Ridge. The Battle of Missionary Ridge was fought on November 25, 1863, as part of the Battles for Chattanooga during the Civil War.

The cemetery now

Unique feature at Chattanooga Memorial ParkToday, the cemetery is a more peaceful place. A duck pond at the park’s entrance draws not only waterfowl but also people from the community seven days a week. They come to feed the ducks, take a lunch break or just enjoy the serenity of nature.

In addition, each year, the cemetery sponsors the oldest Easter sunrise service in the Chattanooga area, conducted by Northside Presbyterian Church. Each Christmas, we host a candlelight remembrance service to honor loved ones lost.
